The National Minimum Wage increases from the 1st April 2019 and the new rates are:

| Aged 25 and above (national living wage rate) | £8.21 |
| Aged 21 to 24 inclusive | £7.70 |
| Aged 18 to 20 inclusive | £6.15 |
| Aged under 18 (but above compulsory school leaving age) | £4.35 |
| Apprentices aged under 19 | £3.90 |
| Apprentices aged 19 and over, but in the first year of their apprenticeship | £3.90 |
If a nanny lives in the family home, is treated as part of the family – eating most meals with them and spending time together such as leisure activities and evening time in the same sitting room, then the national minimum wage does not apply.
The national minimum wage will come into effect for nannies who are not treated as part of the family, but instead, the employer (the parents) will be able to use the offset allowance when the nanny is live-in by £7.55 a day, £52.85 for a whole week.
