Our clients in Bangalore, southern central India, are looking to recruit an English mother tongue Governess/Tutor for their two young daughters, currently aged 11yrs & 7yrs old. This is very much a teaching/tutoring role, to support the girls in all aspects of their education.

The perfect candidate will be an experienced, organised and knowledgeable tutor with a strong academic background and an understanding of the British curriculum up to GCSE level. Your role will be to develop strategies and structure to support their learning - in all subjects but specifically English and Maths. They are both in full-time international school, but they do not get homework currently and the parents feel there is a 'gap' in their learning. The role will not be 'formal classroom' style although there will be some element of structured 'homework' involved, but ideally you will develop activities, games, outings etc. that encourage and support their education.

Both girls are happy, sociable and active. They enjoy a number of sports and activities. The family are a traditional close knit Indian family, they often get together to celebrate festivals and family occasions and you must be willing to embrace the culture, be involved and find ways to fit learning opportunities into their daily lives.

We have had the pleasure of working with the extended family previously. You will be provided with suitable accommodation in the family home. There will be some travel involved, both within India and overseas. A visa will be provided - along with medical insurance.

Hours will be discussed as it will differ between term-time and holidays, 5-6 days per week with at least one weekend day included. Ideally you will be looking to commit to at least a 2-year contract. Previous overseas tutoring experience is a bonus.
