Nursery Deputy Manager
Arthur's House is working with a lovely family-run and owned nursery in Bayswater that is seeking a Deputy Head Teacher. This role involves providing safe, high-quality early years education and care for children aged 2–5 years. The Deputy Head Teacher will fulfil legal and statutory requirements, support the Head Teacher in day-to-day staff management, contribute to and implement school policies, ensure all statutory, legal, and setting obligations are met, and serve as a Group Teacher.

Main duties
1. To take responsibility for drawing up sessional curriculum plans for your group which include
requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance, and to
monitor the effectiveness of the setting’s curriculum.
2. To assist the Head Teacher/ Manager with ensuring that the nursery consistently meets the
requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.
3. To assist the Head Teacher with the performance management systems e.g. induction,
supervision, team meetings, objective setting/development plans etc.
4. To contribute to and conduct the daily programme and planning of Kindergarten activities and
events.

5. To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record keeping for your key
children so that their progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed.
6. To ensure that the welfare and safety of children are promoted within the setting and that any
child protection concerns are always appropriately acted upon immediately.
7. To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the Kindergarten and its
curriculum, exchanging information about your key children's progress and encouraging
parents' involvement.
8. To assist the Head Teacher/Manager and other staff members in implementing any
recommendations made following regulatory inspections.
9. To contribute to and to implement all Kindergarten policies and procedures, e.g. register and
signing out procedures, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, food safety, setting
hygiene etc.
10. To attend any conferences, training events or meetings, as identified by the Head Teacher/
Manager and to keep up-to-date with current good practice.
11. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by Head Teacher/Manager, in
accordance with the setting’s objectives.
12. To assist with the running of a holiday school for certain days during the holidays, along with
other Senior Management personnel.

Salary £30k - £32k pa (GROSS) Subject to experience and qualifications. Annual salary review. Paid throughout holiday periods.
Hours Term time. Monday – Thursday from 8 am - 4.30 pm; Friday from 8 am – 1.30 pm
Qualifications required Minimum Level 3 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent, and a commitment to obtaining a level 4 qualification or higher.
