Due to a change in care package I am recruiting SEN nanny/Support Worker to join my daughters package and work 2:1

There is a Full time or part time nanny/support worker with or without housekeeping role available

Plus

1 x respite support worker - 1 weekend a month ( 2 x 10 -12 hour shifts)

These roles can be covered by 1 person or split between 2 people

The role we have is different to most roles on here as we are looking for a nanny/support worker for a 23 year old young lady with disabilities.

I am looking on a childcare site as whilst she may be 23 years old in age, cognitively she is like a young child and so needs someone with the nanny/childcare skills ideally.

G requires support with all aspects of her daily life and to help her live life to the fullest. Including support with all aspects of life skills - including personal care.

You need to be able to handle behaviours that challenge, hours of jigsaws and Peppa Pig, along with cuddles that are more like head locks.

There will be plenty of belly laughs, along with the more challenging days and you will need to be able to know when to distract and use humour rather than to go into ‘battle’. It’s not the easiest role, but it can be bundles of fun for the right people who just ‘get’ her.

G is a very caring, loving young lady who has a great sense of humour - however due to her needs can get anxious & confused & this shows through her behaviours at times.

We are looking for someone who has experience,or a genuine interest in supporting children/young people with disabilities ( autism/learning difficulties ), particularly behaviours that challenge and who understands the need to follow a set routine when they are caring for her.

G has some set activities throughout the week and you will need to drive her to these.

Someone who loves animals is also required as we have 2 bouncy boxers..

Fluent English is required as is a DBS and relevant references.
