Nanny
Holgate Nannies is seeking a fun, kind, outdoors-loving nanny for a live-in role near the Swiss/German border. The family has four children aged 10, 9, 6, and 4. The children all love being outside in all weathers, they also have their own interests including a love for reading and horses. The eldest is in school all day and the three younger children are in school/kindergarten in the morning and at home in the afternoon. Afternoons include playdates, taking the children to classes, baking, etc.
This is a role for a nanny who loves the countryside, is flexible and is keen to work with the family long-term.
Ideal candidates are professional nannies, who enjoy nature and are happy to use their initiative for fun activities. Someone passionate about childcare and enthusiastic to be part of the family. You are a good fit if you are confident in holding boundaries with the children and have a firm but fair approach.
You will be part of a small team of three nannies which includes a head nanny. They work on rotation, there are usually two nannies on duty at the same time. You will be working five days and then have two consecutive days off. The daily hours are approximately 12 - 8/8.30pm. In general, the parents do the morning school drop-off, when the parents travel the nannies will help in the morning. The nannies work in rotation to cover sick days and holidays.
You will be provided with your own studio apartment a two-minute walk from the family home.
They are seeking an English-speaking nanny. The children speak German, English and Spanish.
The family lives in a castle in the countryside. It’s a fully staffed house so being happy to work alongside others and have confident communication skills is key.
Duties include tidying up after the children and yourself, loading the dishwasher, and putting the children's clothes away. In general, the housekeeping team will do the laundry and the chef will prepare the meals, occasionally you will need to help with the children’s laundry and cooking their dinner.
In January and February, the family lives in South Africa. You will be provided with accommodation and have a similar schedule as in Germany. The family also travels throughout the year with their nannies. The nannies take turns to accompany the family on the trips, your working schedule will vary when you travel.
You need a minimum of three years of childcare experience and ideally previous nanny experience to be considered for this role. They are happy to speak with candidates with different amounts of experience, the priority is finding the right fit for the family.
The initial interview will be via video call with the head nanny, then with the parents if successful they will arrange for the candidate to attend trial days.

Happy with pets as there are three dogs (you are not responsible for caring for the dogs)
Agency requirements:
EU passport
3 years of full-time professional childcare experience
Valid pediatric first aid
A recent police check or DBS and the DBS update system
Minimum of 3 verbal and 3 written references.
