About the role/family: SENNIES is excited to support an extremely welcoming family who strive to provide a happy, nurturing home life for their two children, G9 (in January) and B6 find a weekend Sennie. The family are looking for a passionate, vibrant Sennie who wants to become part of their family, take the lead in caring for G9, and keep her thoroughly engaged and entertained. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about the special needs community, confident in planning activities that promote development, and eager to support G9’s learning and play in creative, fun ways.
G9 attends a specialist school where she receives physiotherapy once a week, occupational therapy every two weeks, and speech and language therapy every two weeks. While the school manages her therapies during school hours, the family are looking for someone who can accompany her to private therapy sessions on Saturday mornings if needed. She is learning to be an independent feeder but still requires spoon feeding, and she is working on toileting skills, currently still in nappies. The family are seeking a Sennie who can encourage her to explore her toys, engage more actively in play, and gradually reduce behaviours such as chewing on objects, while always providing warmth, encouragement, and patience.
A Sennie in this role will play a vital part in supporting G9’s development, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. By offering consistent routines, sensory-based activities, movement, and interactive play, the Sennie can help G9 feel safe, valued, and happy. The ideal candidate will be confident in caring for children with severe epilepsy, including recognising seizures and administering medication when required. They should be energetic, playful, and fun-loving, able to build a strong bond with G9 while supporting her independence, social engagement, and therapeutic goals. Excellent communication skills, reliability, and the ability to take initiative while being part of a supportive family team are essential.
