Lake District – Live-out Housekeeper – £35,000–£40,000 Negotiable

Family Description & Location

• An informal, professional British couple are seeking an experienced, hands-on Live-out Housekeeper to care for their contemporary second home in the Lake District, on Lake Windermere.
• The property is a substantial, newly renovated lakeside residence finished to an exceptional standard, located close to Bowness-on-Windermere.
• This is a holiday home rather than a primary residence. The family anticipate being in occupation for approximately three months of the year, with around 50 nights of residence between mid-July and 31 December.
• There is currently one dog, with the possibility of a second in the future.
• The couple travel extensively and own several other homes. There are contractors responsible for the garden and exterior maintenance. When the principals are not in residence, you will largely be working independently to ensure the property is maintained to a consistently high standard and always guest-ready.
• Chefs will be arranged separately for shoot lunches. No cooking is required within this role.

Job Description

• The principals expect the property to be presented to an exceptional standard at all times.
• Duties will include
• Full housekeeping to a meticulous standard
• Daily care and presentation of all main living areas
• Laundry and wardrobe management
• Preparing the house for shoot lunches with chef organised separately
• Serving drinks and light refreshments when required
• Meeting and greeting guests
• Care of specialist finishes including wood, marble and granite
• Packing and unpacking for one of the principals
• Overseeing contractors and ensuring the property is pristine and prepared ahead of arrivals
• Liaising with the PA and or principal to anticipate visits and requirements

Candidate Requirements

• The client is seeking a discreet, organised and self-sufficient Housekeeper with experience working to a high standard within either a luxury hotel or private household environment.
• You must be confident managing a large property independently
• Be comfortable working alone for extended periods
• Have strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Be experienced in caring for high-end interiors
• Hold a full driving licence and have your own car

Days of Work, Hours & Salary
• 35 hours per week
• When the homeowners are not in residence, start and finish times can be flexible
• When the family are in residence, there may be a requirement for additional flexibility
• £35,000–£40,000 gross per annum negotiable depending on experience
• Equivalent to approximately £19–£22 per hour based on 35 hours per week
