Support Worker
SEN Support Worker/PA in Maidstone, ME15. A rewarding opportunity to support Daisy, 10, a happy, engaging young girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, in her family home and out in the community, helping her enjoy everyday life and special days out. Up to £20.00 gross per hour.

• Nearest Station: Maidstone
• Salary/Wage: £18.00 (weekdays) and £20.00 (weekends) gross per hour
• Driving Requirements: Yes – confident driver able to drive an automatic Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV); training provided. Minimum age 25 for insurance
• Essential: Experience supporting a child or young person with epilepsy and mobility needs; confident with personal care and basic manual handling; comfortable working in a family home alongside siblings
• Desirable: Interest in supporting physio, OT and SaLT therapy programmes
• Start Date: ASAP
• Days & Hours: 2 roles available. Each includes one weekday shift (Thursday or Friday) 2:00pm–7:00pm, plus Sundays 9:00am–6:00pm working 2:1. Year-round role with potential extra hours during school holidays. Sunday preferred, though Saturday may be considered

About this child/client: Daisy, 10, is a warm and easy-going girl living with her parents and siblings. She enjoys books, baking, arts and crafts, TV, and outings including the zoo, cinema, bowling and garden centres. Daisy communicates using a small number of spoken words, signs, gestures and by leading adults, and is effective at expressing her needs and preferences. Daisy has cerebral palsy and complex epilepsy. She is a wheelchair user but can weight bear and enjoys short walks with support and a handling belt. She uses adapted facilities and specialist equipment at home.

Overview of role: We are recruiting 2 Support Workers/PAs who will each work one weekday shift and then together on Sundays providing 2:1 support for community outings. Weekday shifts involve collecting Daisy from school and supporting her at home with snacks, dinner and relaxed activities such as books, sensory play and toys. Weekend shifts may include outings to the zoo, London, cinema, bowling or quieter activities at home depending on Daisy’s energy levels. You will support mobility, toileting routines, meals and personal care. Some manual handling is required, with guidance and full WAV training provided.

Who this role would suit: A calm, confident and organised Support Worker who is proactive and comfortable working within a family home. Someone able to plan activities, bring ideas and adapt to Daisy’s changing needs and energy levels. An interest in communication methods including signs, gestures and visual cues is important, alongside enjoyment of child-centred activities. Epilepsy awareness is essential, including monitoring seizures, following protocols and supporting recovery and rest.
