AH139: Live-out Nanny, Wandsworth
Arthur’s House is supporting a warm, professional family in SW London to appoint an exceptional live-out nanny to care primarily for their 2-year-old daughter, with a new baby due in September. Mum will be on maternity leave initially when the new baby arrives. Mum will be on maternity leave so will be primary carer for the baby for the first year.
The family are both busy professionals and are looking for a nanny who is reliable, honest, and an excellent communicator, and who will take real ownership of the role, bringing creative, play-based learning and thoughtful structure to their child’s day.
Role overview:
- Sole-charge care for the family’s toddler during working hours
- Nursery-related duties, meal preparation, child laundry and organisation, and proactive planning of age-appropriate activities.
- Support a calm, collaborative home environment, with a nanny who takes direction well and does not need day-to-day micro-management.
Location: Wandsworth, SW17
Start date: Ideally a late June start (July can be considered for the right person).
Salary: £20–£23 gross per hour
Hours (44 hours per week)
- Monday – Wednesday: start 12:30pm (time used for meal prep and nursery duties)
- Nursery pick-ups: Mon/Tues 2:15–2:30pm, Wed 3:15–3:30pm
- Thursday & Friday: start 7:30am
- Finish 7:30pm most days, with a 6:30pm finish on Fridays, and frequently earlier.
- Some flexibility required for occasional later finishes, typically with notice.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide engaging, development-focused care with an emphasis on:
- Creative, play-based learning
- Outdoor time and local activities
- Planning purposeful days with occasional playdates
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the toddler, considering allergies.
- Keep children’s areas clean and organised, manage child laundry, and maintain nursery/child-related routines.
- Confidently manage nursery pick-ups and the afternoon routine.
- Clear communication with parents, including sharing updates and raising issues directly and constructively.
Essential experience and qualities:
- Proven nanny experience with toddlers (and ideally newborn experience).
- Qualified, capable, and confident working independently.
- Strong communication style, emotionally mature, receptive to feedback.
- Honest, kind, dependable, and consistent.
Preferences (nice to have):
- Driver preferred (not required).
- Italian speaker a bonus.
Additional details:
- No pets.
- Child has a FPIES allergy (notably poultry and courgettes). The family will provide full guidance, but the nanny must be confident following allergy protocols and escalating appropriately.
- Occasional babysitting would be welcomed.
- The family are looking for a long-term hire.
