Job Summary:
A private family are seeking an experienced Head Housekeeper to take responsibility for the day-to-day housekeeping operation across their substantial country residence. The home is occupied by a young family with two children and includes the principal residence, guest accommodation, ancillary buildings and staff areas.

This is a hands-on role, working alongside a second Housekeeper to ensure the home is presented to an impeccable standard at all times. The successful candidate will lead by example, taking pride in maintaining luxury interiors, caring for fine furnishings, specialist finishes, designer clothing and premium household linens.

Responsibilities will include organising daily housekeeping schedules, managing household inventories and supplies, coordinating deep cleaning programmes and ensuring all accommodation is prepared for family members and guests. The Head Housekeeper will also liaise closely with the Estate Caretaker and wider estate team to support the smooth running of the household.

The family are passionate about creating a safe and healthy home and would particularly welcome candidates with knowledge of natural, environmentally conscious cleaning methods.

The position is primarily live-out; however, a self-contained annex may be available for the right candidate if live-in accommodation is required.


Job specification:
• Overseeing the housekeeping operation across the estate
• Working alongside and supporting the second Housekeeper
• Hands-on cleaning to an exceptional standard
• Planning and implementing daily, weekly and seasonal cleaning schedules
• Caring for luxury interiors, antiques, fine furnishings and specialist finishes
• Expert laundry care, including washing, ironing, pressing and caring for delicate garments, luxury bedding and fine linens
• Maintaining wardrobes, linen stores and household inventories
• Managing cleaning products, equipment and household supplies
• Coordinating deep cleaning programmes and specialist cleaning
• Preparing guest accommodation and estate buildings for arrivals
• Liaising with the Estate Caretaker and wider household team
• Supporting occasional family entertaining and events
• Championing environmentally friendly and non-toxic cleaning practices
• Maintaining complete discretion and confidentiality at all times

Candidate specification:
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a private household
• Previous experience as a Head Housekeeper or Senior Housekeeper
• Exceptional housekeeping and laundry skills
• Extensive knowledge of caring for luxury fabrics, designer clothing and delicate finishes
• Experience working within private family homes, ideally with young children
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a household team
• Proactive, flexible and hands-on approach
• High attention to detail with pride in maintaining exceptional standards
• Full UK driving licence essential
• Pet friendly – family have friendly French Bulldog
• Fluent English essential
