Governess-Governor
We’re recruiting on behalf of a prominent family in Doha seeking an exceptional Educational Governess / Senior Private Tutor to oversee the academic development of their four early teenage children (Middle & High School age).
This is not a traditional tutoring position. The successful candidate will become the family’s educational lead, taking ownership of the children’s academic progress, coordinating with schools and specialist tutors, and ensuring each child is consistently challenged, organised and performing to a high standard.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a candidate with:
* Extensive experience as a private tutor, educational governess or educational mentor.
* Strong experience teaching secondary school students (early teens) across a broad range of subjects.
* Excellent knowledge of the American curriculum (essential).
* The ability to confidently support English and Humanities, with Mathematics considered advantageous.
* Experience working within private households, international schools or academically rigorous educational environments.
* Outstanding organisation, planning and communication skills.
* Confidence managing multiple children’s educational programmes simultaneously.
* A proactive, discreet and highly professional approach.
* The ability to build excellent relationships with parents, schools and external tutors.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the academic development of all four children.
* Deliver high-quality one-to-one tuition across the curriculum.
* Support homework, coursework, revision and examination preparation.
* Identify learning gaps and implement personalised academic strategies.
* Develop structured study plans, routines and organisational systems.
* Monitor academic progress and provide regular feedback to parents.
* Liaise with schools, teachers and educational professionals.
* Recruit and coordinate specialist tutors where required.
* Manage school administration, educational appointments and academic planning.
* Foster independence, confidence, resilience and a genuine love of learning.
* Accompany the family on occasional international travel.
Working Pattern
* 5–6 days per week.
* Typically 8–12 hours per day, with considerably fewer direct teaching hours while the children are at school.
* Flexibility required depending on the family’s schedule.
Package
* £80,000+ per annum, with substantial flexibility for an outstanding candidate.
