Night Nanny
About this position
Details can be discussed and negotiated:
Newborn care
Overnight and daytime settling, soothing, and sleep support for the newborn, including full night shifts so parents can get uninterrupted rest stretches
Support with breastfeeding/bottle-feeding logistics (positioning, pumping and storage, sterilizing bottles, tracking feeds)
Bathing, nappy changes, cord/umbilical care, and establishing early sleep and feeding routines
Monitoring for jaundice, feeding issues, or other newborn health flags and looping in the pediatrician when needed
Mother's postpartum/C-section recovery
Taking over baby-related physical tasks the mother should avoid in the early weeks (lifting, carrying, bending) given C-section recovery limits
Bringing the baby to the mother for feeds rather than expecting her to get up repeatedly, especially overnight
Light meal and drink prep for the mother, encouraging rest and hydration
General practical and emotional support — being an extra pair of hands so the mother isn't managing newborn + toddler simultaneously
Toddler support
Morning routine and getting the toddler ready for kita (08:00 drop-off), and pickup at 14:00 if the parents need coverage
Afternoon care, play, meals, and rest/nap supervision for the toddler once home from kita
Helping the toddler adjust to the new sibling (managing jealousy, giving him dedicated attention so he doesn't feel displaced)
Toddler's bedtime routine, freeing the parents to focus on the newborn
Household tasks tied to the children
Baby and toddler laundry, keeping the nursery and toddler's room tidy and stocked
Preparing bags/supplies for outings, pediatrician visits, or kita
Sterilizing and washing bottles/feeding equipment
Night duty / on-call
Handling newborn wake-ups overnight (feeding support, changing, resettling)
Being reachable and responsive across the night given the "24h on call" arrangement — worth defining with her upfront what counts as expected vs. exceptional night involvement, so it's clear and sustainable for both sides
Coordination & communication
Daily handover with parents (feeding times, sleep, any concerns) — a simple log/app can help here
Coordinating with the second nanny once she starts (after 19 Oct) so toddler and newborn care don't overlap confusingly
Coordinating with the kita on drop-off/pickup times and any messages
Keeping track of upcoming pediatrician appointments and vaccination schedule
Safety
Certified in infant/child first aid and CPR (worth making this a hiring requirement if not already)
Following safe sleep practices for the newborn
Awareness of any allergies or medical notes for both children
