# Full-Time Governess / Private Tutor – Qatar

**Position:** Full-Time Governess / Private Educator
**Students:** Elementary and High School Age
A private family in Qatar is seeking an experienced, organised and proactive **Governess / Private Tutor** to oversee the academic development, organisation and educational enrichment of elementary and high-school-aged children.
This role goes beyond traditional tutoring. The successful candidate will take responsibility for monitoring academic progress, supporting schoolwork, coordinating additional tutors where required, and helping the children become more organised, independent and confident learners.
## Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic support and tutoring across appropriate subjects.
- Monitor homework, assignments, assessments, projects and examination preparation.
- Keep track of grades, deadlines, school requirements and academic progress.
- Identify areas requiring improvement and create appropriate study plans.
- Help develop strong study habits, time management and organisational skills.
- Liaise with teachers, school staff and external tutors where necessary.
- Arrange specialist tutors for subjects requiring additional expertise.
### SAT & High School Support
- Support and coordinate **SAT preparation**.
- Create preparation schedules and monitor progress.
- Keep track of testing dates, registration deadlines and academic requirements.
- Coordinate specialist SAT tutors or preparation programmes where needed.
### College & University Preparation
- Research suitable universities, courses and programmes.
- Track admissions requirements and application deadlines.
- Help students build strong academic and extracurricular profiles.
- Research internships, summer programmes, courses, volunteering and enrichment opportunities.
- Support the organisation of personal statements, essays and application materials.
- Coordinate with school counsellors and admissions consultants when appropriate.
### Educational Enrichment
- Create **age-appropriate educational and recreational activities**.
- Research workshops, exhibitions, museums, courses and other learning opportunities.
- Encourage reading and recommend suitable books and resources.
- Develop projects around each child's interests.
- Encourage creativity, independent thinking and problem-solving.
- Help children use weekends and school holidays productively while maintaining a healthy balance.
### Academic Organisation
- Maintain an organised academic calendar for each child.
- Track examinations, assignments, school events and extracurricular commitments.
- Provide parents with regular updates on progress and concerns.
- Encourage greater responsibility and accountability for schoolwork.
## Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a **Governess, Private Educator, Teacher or Full-Time Tutor**.
- Be educated to degree level; a teaching or education qualification is preferred.
- Have experience working with both younger children and teenagers.
- Have knowledge of SAT preparation and university application processes.
- Be highly organised, proactive and resourceful.
- Be comfortable coordinating with teachers, tutors and educational professionals.
- Be capable of researching academic and extracurricular opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations.
- Be discreet, professional, dependable and comfortable working within a private family environment.
