A Night Maternity Nurse job in Loughton, Essex, supporting first-time parents with their newborn baby, with a particular focus on breastfeeding support, feeding guidance and overnight care.

Job Summary

First-time parents in Loughton are looking for a warm and experienced Night Maternity Nurse to support them following the arrival of their baby, due in late November. Mum is hoping to breastfeed and would particularly value someone who can encourage and support her with breastfeeding, offering knowledgeable guidance around feeding, expressing, bottle introduction and establishing a good milk supply. As first-time parents, they are very open-minded and understand that plans may change once baby arrives, so they would appreciate someone adaptable who can guide them according to what Mum and baby need. They plan to begin with 2–3 nights per week, although there may be the opportunity to increase the number of nights if they feel additional support would be helpful. The family can also offer some flexibility over the Christmas period.

Job Specification
• Providing overnight care for a newborn baby
• Supporting and encouraging Mum with breastfeeding
• Offering guidance around breastfeeding, expressing and bottle feeding
• Supporting Mum with establishing and maintaining milk supply
• Settling and resettling baby following feeds
• Supporting healthy, age-appropriate sleep and feeding patterns
• Providing practical newborn guidance and reassurance to first-time parents
• Undertaking light nursery duties overnight

Candidate Specification
• Strong newborn experience
• Excellent breastfeeding knowledge and practical experience
• Knowledgeable around expressing, bottle introduction and combination feeding if required
• Warm, encouraging and reassuring
• Calm and confident with first-time parents
• Adaptable and responsive to Mum and baby's individual needs
• Happy to offer guidance without being overly prescriptive
