Position Overview
As an Au Pair in Australia, you will live as a valued member of an Australian host family, providing reliable childcare and light domestic support. The role focuses primarily on helping parents navigate daily routines, managing school runs, entertaining the children, and maintaining a positive, safe home environment while experiencing the Australian lifestyle during your free time.

Core Responsibilities
Childcare Support:

Help children get dressed, fed, and ready for school or nursery in the mornings.

Supervise play sessions, organize outdoor activities, and manage afternoon playdates.

Assist with homework supervision and educational tasks for school-aged children.

Bathe, dress, and assist with bedtime routines in the evenings.

Transportation & Outings:

Drive or walk children safely to and from school, nursery, and sports/extracurricular clubs.

Accompany children to local parks, beaches, or community playgroups.

Child-Related Household Tasks:

Prepare nutritious snacks and light meals for the children.

Keep the children’s bedrooms and play areas tidy and organized.

Wash, fold, and manage the children's laundry and school uniforms.

Load/unload the dishwasher after children’s mealtimes.

Out of Scope (What Au Pairs Do NOT Do)
Au pairs are family members and childcare supporters—not commercial housekeepers. Responsibilities exclude:

Deep cleaning, gardening, window washing, or heavy domestic labor.

Cooking meals for adult family members outside of shared family dinners.

Cleaning adult-only private spaces or doing laundry for the whole household.

Candidate Requirements:

Age & Visa: 18–35 years old; eligible for an Australian Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417).

Experience:
Proven childcare experience at least 200 hours (babysitting, tutoring, nursery work, or camp counseling).

Skills:
Proficient English speaker; valid driver’s license preferred.

Certifications:
Clean police background check (DBS) and an up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate.

Financial & Travel Proof

Proof of Savings:
A bank statement showing accessible funds of at least $5,000 AUD (approx. £2,500–£2,600 GBP).
Return Flight Capability: Proof of an outward/return ticket or extra savings on top of the $5,000 AUD to cover a flight home
The $5,000 is not paid to the Australian government — it's your own money.
Visa Fee: Approximately $640–$650 AUD (payable online by debit/credit card during submission).

Under the Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417), British citizens are granted a 12-month stay in Australia. However, the visa carries a standard restriction called Condition 8547: The 6-Month Work Limitation: A visa holder is generally restricted to working for a maximum of 6 months with any single employer.
