Fixed-Term Self-employed Nanny – Maternity / Sick Leave Cover
Location: Hersham, Surrey
Start Date: ASAP for the right candidate
Contract: Fixed-term, approximately 12 months (ideally September 2026 – September 2027)

Days: Wednesday & Thursday
Hours: Ideally 8:30am – 5:30pm, with flexibility to work 9:00am – 6:00pm if required
Salary: £18–£20 gross per hour, depending on experience
Basis: Self-employed

The Role
A lovely family are looking for an experienced, warm and reliable Nanny to provide maternity/sick leave cover for a period of approximately one year.
The role will focus on caring for their 15-month-old daughter, who currently attends nursery three days per week. The family will continue with her existing nursery arrangements, with the nanny providing care on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This is a sole-charge position, although both parents work between the office and home, so they may be present in the property during the day. The ideal candidate will therefore be comfortable working independently while also maintaining positive and open communication with the parents.

Duties
The nanny will be responsible for all usual nursery duties, including:
Providing warm, attentive and engaging care for the child
Planning age-appropriate activities and outings
Following a child-led approach to the day
Taking the child to local activities, classes, parks and other outings as appropriate
Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the child
Managing bath time and other elements of the child’s daily routine
Children’s laundry and keeping the child’s areas tidy and organised
General child-related housekeeping
Supporting the child’s development, learning and independence through play and everyday activities
Communicating openly with the parents about the child’s day, development and any relevant updates
The family are happy to follow a flexible, child-led structure. They would like the nanny to respond to the child’s needs and interests rather than following a rigid timetable — whether that means heading out for an activity or having a relaxed day at home.

The Ideal Candidate
The family are looking for someone who:
Has previous professional experience caring for children of a similar age
Is warm, nurturing and genuinely enjoys working with toddlers
Is confident with sole-charge care
Is proactive and able to use their initiative
Takes a child-led and developmentally appropriate approach
Is happy to undertake child-related housekeeping
Is organised, reliable and dependable
Has excellent communication skills and values an open and honest relationship with the parents
Is comfortable working around parents who may occasionally be working from home
Is looking for a longer-term fixed-term commitment
