Overview
We are looking for a warm, experienced and proactive Career Nanny to provide live-in weekend cover for a high-profile family with two young boys. You will look after the boys from Friday afternoon until Monday morning and be on call around the clock. You will follow the parents’ wishes and parenting style closely, and keep the boys busy with fun, enriching activities. European Spanish is the language spoken to the boys, so it’s central to the role. The family’s lifestyle is busy and international, so you flexibility to travel with them from time to time for periods of up to 1 week is essential. This role suits a dedicated, energetic nanny who is local to Barcelona or lives within easily commutable distance.
Key Responsibilities
Weekend Childcare: Take full care of the two boys from Friday 4:00 PM to Monday 8:00 AM, living in and staying on call 24 hours a day across the weekend.
Parenting Alignment: Follow the parents’ routines, values and parenting style consistently, so the boys get continuity of care across the week.
Activities & Development: Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors, from outings and sport to creative play, reading and learning.
Language Immersion: Speak European Spanish with the boys at all times, supporting their language development in a natural and engaging way.
Daily Routines: Manage meals, bath and bedtime routines, night-time care and general wellbeing, keeping the boys’ spaces tidy and organised. The family employs a chef during the weekdays who leaves some mealprep for the weekends, however the candidate must be able and happy to cook healthy foods and snacks for the boys.
Communication with Parents: Keep the parents informed with clear updates in English and a short handover at the start and end of each weekend.
Travel: Go with the family on trips when needed, taking care of the boys away from home.
Requirements
Experience: Proven experience as a qualified Career Nanny, ideally in private, high-profile households.
Qualifications: Relevant childcare or early years qualifications desired. Paediatric First Aid mandatory.
Languages: Native or fully proficient European Spanish is essential. Good English is required to communicate with the parents.
Health & Fitness: Physically fit, with an active, healthy lifestyle and the energy to keep up with two lively boys and the family’s lifestyle and values.
Travel: A valid passport and the right to live and work in the EU are essential, along with availability to travel at short notice.
References: Minimum 2 written, contactable references from previous nanny roles.
Personality: Warm, patient, discreet and full of initiative, with a calm and reliable presence.
What Is Offered
Competitive Compensation: €800 – €1,200 gross per weekend (€300 – €450 per 24 hours), depending on experience.
Flexible Contract Options: You can work on a formal employment contract or invoice as a freelancer, whichever suits you best.
Weekdays Free: A weekend-only schedule that leaves Monday to Friday free.
Respectful Environment: A long-term position with a family that values and supports their childcare team.
