Governess-Governor
Native English Governess/Early Years Educator – Doha, Qatar
A highly recommended family in Doha is seeking a native English-speaking Governess with a clear, neutral accent for their bright, curious and energetic three-year-old son. Native English fluency is an essential requirement for this role, as supporting his English language development is a central part of the position. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
He is an active, joyful little boy who loves exploring, understanding how things work and being involved in the world around him. The family is looking for someone who can nurture his curiosity, keep pace with his interests and support his development at every stage.
He has his own dedicated nanny and his mum is very involved, so this is a distinct Governess role focused on education, English language development, creative activities and wider experiences rather than routine nanny duties. A team player who is happy to lend a hand when needed is appreciated.
The ideal candidate will:
Be a native English speaker with a clear, neutral accent.
Hold a recognised Early Years / Early Childhood Education qualification and have recent relevant experience.
Have a genuine love of children's literature and use creative, playful approaches to encourage reading for pleasure.
Be warm, calm, energetic and confident working with active, curious toddlers.
Understand early childhood development and adapt activities to the child's interests, abilities and changing needs.
Plan engaging experiences that encourage curiosity, learning, confidence and independence.
Set gentle, clear boundaries using respectful, positive approaches.
Follow the parents' wishes while bringing initiative and creativity to the role.
Be organised, discreet, professional and a collaborative team player.
Hold recent, in-person paediatric first aid training.
Be ready to travel and commit to the role for at least one year.
The aim is to create a stimulating environment where he can learn, explore and develop a lasting enjoyment of books, stories and language.
The family has an established household team, is known for retaining staff and comes highly recommended as an employer.
