The family and the role
International family with a calm, structured home. The older two attend school; during the day you’ll focus on the baby (feeding, weaning, naps, play). After school you’ll have all three: activities, homework, dinner, baths and bedtime. One parent is often at home, but you’ll regularly care for all three on your own. A housekeeper handles general cleaning in the mornings; you’ll take care of the children’s laundry, their meals, their spaces and belongings, and tidy up after yourself and the children. Proxy parenting about one long weekend every two months, plus travel to our mountain home (1.5 hours away) and occasional holidays abroad.
This is a hands-on family home, not a fully staffed household. It suits someone practical, organised and comfortable both taking the lead and working alongside a parent.
Parenting approach
We seek someone warm, firm and consistent, combining affection and playfulness with clear boundaries. We aim to raise kind, empathetic, respectful, confident, independent, resilient and responsible children, while encouraging curiosity, perseverance, honesty and good manners.
The nanny should teach emotional regulation, patience, impulse control, social skills and independence through positive reinforcement, predictable routines, calm boundaries and appropriate consequences. Children should be encouraged to solve problems, manage age-appropriate frustration and learn from mistakes.
Education and development
Take an active role in learning, not simply supervision. Support homework and school learning, reading and early literacy, including Jolly Phonics, writing, numeracy, telling the time and practical life skills. Plan engaging activities that develop curiosity and concentration.
Montessori understanding is desirable; certification is not required. Encourage the children to dress, tidy, organise belongings, prepare simple food and attempt tasks independently. Coach social interactions, including friendships, sharing, rejection, conflict resolution and empathy. Adapt activities to each child’s developmental stage.
