Job Description: A lovely family based in Ascot is seeking a qualified Governess. Their daughter is a bright 4-year-old who has just started Reception. The family wants an educated, nurturing professional to support her learning and development over the long term. The family travels internationally, and the Governess will sometimes go with them. The governess will be responsible for the little girl’s education and enrichment outside school hours. That means building on what she learns in Reception and helping her grow in confidence, curiosity and independence.
Responsibilities will include:
- Planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate learning activities, with a focus on early literacy, phonics, numeracy and language development
- Supporting her through Reception with reading practice, homework and preparation for the next stages of her education
- Encouraging creativity through arts and crafts, music, storytelling and imaginative play
- Organising enriching weekend days, such as outdoor activities, museum visits, classes and outings
- Keeping a structured, consistent routine that balances learning, play and rest
- Teaching good manners, social skills and emotional wellbeing
- Travelling with the family internationally when needed and keeping her routine and learning going while away
Requirements: Qualified Governess, Early Years teacher or holder of an equivalent childcare/education qualification
Proven experience in private households
British accent, articulate and well-presented
Warm, patient and creative, with a structured approach to learning
Happy to live in and to travel internationally
Comfortable around dogs (the family has two Maltipoos)
Full driving licence
Working Hours: 3 days per week from 4 pm–8 pm / Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours each day (28 hours per week)
Salary Offered: From £55,000 gross per annum plus
Accommodation: Separate flat and family car to be used
