Nanny
On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced Live-in Junior Nanny to join their family, caring for their 3-month-old baby and dividing time between Redwood City, California and Darwin, Australia, where the family spends approximately three months of the year.
The ideal Nanny will be warm, adventurous, and genuinely loving, with strong experience caring for babies. They will bring a nurturing, calm and patient approach, take initiative, have excellent organisational skills and be a confident, safe driver (vehicle provided).
The parents are very hands-on and enjoy being actively involved in their children’s lives, so this will be a shared-care role, alongside periods of sole charge when required. The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable working collaboratively with parents and adapting to the family’s preferred routines and approach to childcare.
An educational background would be appreciated, particularly someone who enjoys engaging children through conversation, reading, music and age-appropriate activities as they develop. The ability to hold an engaging conversation and naturally support a child’s language and learning would be valued. Musical ability or a genuine interest in music would be a distinct advantage. Experience working within multilingual households, or the ability to speak German, French or Spanish, would also be welcomed.
The family are happy to sponsor a J-1 where required, subject to the candidate meeting the relevant visa requirements.
Duties will include:
Providing warm, nurturing and attentive care for the baby
Working collaboratively with the parents as part of a shared-care arrangement
Sole-charge childcare when required
Bringing a calm, patient, and proactive approach to all aspects of childcare
Preparing healthy, thoughtful meals, with menu suggestions and initiative welcomed
Managing the infant’s laundry and keeping the nursery tidy and organised
Supporting the child’s development through conversation, reading, music and age-appropriate activities
Travelling with the family between properties as required (Australia and Lake Tahoe)
Accompanying the family on international travel (Europe)
The family employ a House Manager and a weekly cleaner, so the role remains focused on the child rather than the running of the home.
