Nanny
Seeking Loving Weekend/Travel Nanny (J1 eligible, green card holder or American)
About the family and children
Mum is a classically trained dancer turned actor/independent filmmaker. The children are her priority, yet she remains active in her career. This fall she will be working on a feature in LA. She enjoys yoga, philanthropy, church/Sunday school for boys and travel. Dad is a retired entrepreneur, self-made and hard working. He loves college American football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, motorcycles, golf, boating, music and races.
The eldest boy (7 yrs) is bright, loving, creative and loves to be silly and tell jokes. He will be a second grader at a private school this fall. He is a very good swimmer, takes equestrian lessons and baseball. His favourite home activities are going to the beach/pool, obstacle courses, museums, aviation/learning basics of flying the family plane and helicopter, reading, art and puzzles/games. He loves animals, dance parties, music, space, and the trampoline. He was awarded the "keeper of fun facts" & “math wiz” awards at school. He is academically advanced and curious.
The youngest boy (5 yrs) was born premature and survived incredible odds after a long NICU stay. He is very social, affectionate and determined. Cognitively there are no concerns for him, he is academically on track and very bright. He sees a speech therapist for articulation to avoid frustration. His biggest challenge is a food aversion which the family has a team of specialists for. He is making slow, steady progress. He needs a nanny who will be patient and dedicated to him overcoming his struggles surrounding solid food. He is a clever classic little brother! He is adventurous and curious! He enjoys music/dance, dinosaurs, colouring, looking for the moon in the evening, reading, matching games and riding his scooter. He will be in his last year of preschool this fall at the same private school as his brother. He takes drum lessons, swimming, and baseball.
The family is looking for a nanny with a bright and warm personality. A special loving Mary Poppins to become a member of the family. Someone who can forward think, who can bring in a joyful spirit and love of children who understands child development, nutrition, safety, age-appropriate activities, and privacy/security. A nanny who is adaptable, open and adventurous as the boy’s love to explore, be challenged and create. Swimming skills and comfortable flying private required. Must be fluent in English, French a plus.
This role requires teamwork and being able to take direction from the Head Nanny (Norlander) and mum to help maintain structure and consistency for the children. They have a gentle parenting family- redirection, reading the boys' cues and setting them up to succeed (rested/fed). They have a busy lifestyle but are not flashy or formal, more American casual/laid back. They value kindness and manners but give the children a lot of room to explore, make mistakes and feel they have a voice.
For the weekend role, typical nursery duties will apply- cook for the children occasionally, help keep up with laundry/organization for the children, learn what they need for travel/pack accordingly and create at least one fun project for the boys to do that encourages development. The ability to muck in as needed (if home alone with boys and notice the dog water bowl is empty, please fill etc.) is required. This role includes 3 overnights. Start Friday afternoon and end Monday morning.
This role is a good fit for someone who is able to make friends easily in new environments and/or who loves to travel. With nearly four days off there is a lot of opportunity to explore the US. The family and current staff will help you connect with interests and network locally. There is room to grow in this role as the family plans to have nannies or family assistants until the boys are well into their teens.
