About the child/children: SENNIES are excited to support a warm and informal family looking for an experienced, empathetic, and creative Qualified Key Stage 2 Teacher/s with SEN experience, to support their 9-year-old son at home under an EOTAS (Education Other Than At School) arrangement.
B9 has a diagnosis of Autism with a PDA profile and ADHD. He is an exceptionally bright, fun-loving, and charismatic young boy with a wide range of interests—from music and cars to geography and the great outdoors. He has a sharp sense of humour, enjoys adult conversation, and thrives when given space to be himself. B9 lives at home with his parents and his 6-year-old sister, who attends full-time mainstream education.
Since May 2024, B9 has been out of the school system. The family are in the process of developing a bespoke EOTAS plan and are now seeking a dedicated, qualified professional who can design and deliver a creative, child-led, and emotionally attuned educational programme tailored to his individual needs. B9’s profile includes a strong need for autonomy. While he is highly intelligent and socially capable—demonstrating eye contact, understanding sarcasm, and engaging warmly with others—he does not respond well to conventional teaching styles or rigid routines. His PDA profile means that traditional demands or authority-based structures can be overwhelming. Therefore, the ideal candidate will truly understand how to work flexibly and sensitively within this framework.
It’s crucial that the person in this role sees beyond behaviours and focuses instead on understanding the underlying needs, meeting B9 with compassion, patience, warmth, humour, and consistency. You will play a vital role in helping B9 feel safe, emotionally regulated, and engaged in meaningful learning that promotes his self-esteem, independence, and long-term success. B9 is currently supported at home by his parents and is in the early stages of building an education plan that meets his needs. This is a unique opportunity for someone to step into a meaningful, relationship-focused role where your work will have a tangible, long-term impact on B9’s future. You’ll be part of a compassionate family who understands that connection, curiosity and creativity are the keys to supporting a child like B9.
